Trainee Freight Forwarder – Career Changers Welcome
No idea about logistics? Not yet.
Not everyone here started out in freight forwarding. Some came from retail, hospitality or a completely different office job – and learned with us how to steer transports across Europe.
That doesn't happen overnight. Freight forwarding is a craft: you get to know carriers, routes, prices and documents, and you learn to stay calm when a truck is stuck and the customer is on the phone. For that you get a structured onboarding, e-learning and colleagues who show you how it's done.
What you need to bring isn't knowledge. It's attitude.
What you'll do
You learn the freight forwarding business from the ground up – and gradually take on your own transports.
- Accept, check and enter transport orders in the system
- Organise and follow up collections and deliveries
- Prepare transport documents and calculate freight costs
- Call and write to customers, carriers and drivers
- Learn to find suitable carriers and negotiate prices
- Help clarify the cause of damage and complaints
- Take on your own customers and transports after onboarding
In short: first you learn. Then you dispatch.
What we're looking for
You don't need industry experience. But you should:
- Enjoy communicating – by phone, by email, all day
- Want to learn and ask questions instead of guessing
- Stay calm when several things happen at once
- Work carefully – numbers, deadlines and documents have to be right
- Take ownership instead of waiting for someone else to solve the problem
- Not be afraid of numbers
- Speak and write German confidently
- English is a plus
A commercial qualification or experience in customer contact helps. What matters is that you stick with it.
